Average time to visit

There is no bad time to go on safari in the Kruger National Park. The experience does, however, change from month to month. In the summer months (October to March), it gets very hot. The verdant vistas are all the more spectacular because of the rains, but this means that the foliage is denser, water is more abundant and game is therefore trickier to see. There are lots of beautiful migratory birds during the summer months. While the daytime temperature in the winter months (May to September) is ideal, it does get a little chilly at night and in the early morning.

Description

Arathusa Safari Lodge is situated in a prime location within the Sabi Sand Reserve, adjacent to the Kruger National Park. Combined, these two areas make up some of Africa’s most incredible and diverse wilderness sanctuaries.

Arathusa Safari Lodge is situated by a large water hole and this allows guests to experience a truly exceptional safari experience as animals collect around the watering hole to drink throughout the day. There is a high concentration of game, including the Big Five and there are frequent leopard sightings. Since 2006, Arathusa has been owned and run by Hannes and Anina who are based at the lodge and have fantastic knowledge of both the Sabi Sand Reserve and Kruger National Park.

There are thirteen beautifully decorated luxury rooms at Arathusa, nine of which are centrally located from which guests can enjoy views across the open plains, as well four other rooms in a more private and remote bush setting, along with their own plunge pools. There is also a treatment room overlooking the waterhole. Here, guests can enjoy a wide selection of treatments to soothe the body, relax the mind and indulge the senses.

All of the rangers and guides at Arathusa are experts out in the field, and are always happy to impart their wisdom and knowledge of the bush. They are full of entertaining anecdotes and stories and an infectious passion and enthusiasm.
