Average time to visit

Rwanda can be visited at any time of year. There are two annual rainy seasons: the big rains which last from mid-February to the beginning of June, and the small rains from mid-September to mid-December. Rainfall, especially over the mountains, is heavy during these two periods, particularly from March to May. The long dry season, June to September, is the best time for tracking gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park and for hiking in Nyungwe Forest Reserve.

Mantis Kivu Queen is a luxury houseboat, located on Rwanda's Lake Kivu, complete with 10 well-appointed cabins, an inviting swimming pool and spacious dining area. Explore this spectacular landscape in both comfort and style.

Located on eastern Rwanda's Lake Kivu, Mantis Kivu Queen is a luxury houseboat which passes by some of the most biodiverse ecozones. The cruise starts in the north of Rwanda at Rubavu, and cruises south where enroute guests will pay respect to the ancient Idjiwi pygmy tribes; sip locally brewed teas and coffees; and explore the spectacular Nyungwe forest in search of chimpanzee troops and Angolan colobus monkey.

The intimate houseboat itself features just 10 well-appointed cabins, each complete with an ensuite bathroom, so guests can expect a friendly and attentive service on board. Elsewhere on the boat, guests can take a dip in the onboard swimming pool, and relax at the jacuzzi or spa. After building up an appetite on guided hikes, the restaurant offers guests an array of local and international dishes to indulge in; and refreshing drinks can be found at the bar.

For guests looking for total exclusivity, the boat can also be booked on a fully private basis.
