The Maldives has a tropical climate distinguished by two seasons, or monsoons: the dry northeast monsoon from December to March, and the wet southwestern monsoon from May to November, with more strong winds and rain. April is a transitional period noted for clear water and heat. The temperature remains remarkably consistent at around 30°C.
February to April is the hottest period and resorts are almost all operating at capacity during this period. Mid-December to early January comes at even more of a premium due to Christmas and New Year and prices are even higher. Easter and the Italian holiday week in August also attract peak prices at most resorts.
Storms are more likely from May to November, though it’s still warm, skies can be cloudy and the humidity is higher. This is the low season, with fewer people and lower prices, with the exception of August.
Diving is good year-round, although a basic rule is that life on the reef is more varied and visibility better on the western side of any atoll from May to November and from the eastern side of any atoll December to April.
The surfing season runs from March to October, which is when resorts are cheapest.

An absolutely fantastic value option for both families and couples - the Family Beach Villas and the Double Storey Beach Villas work so well when travelling with children that you want to share your villa. For couples who want to be in a Water Villa, they are great because they're the best value room type - normally Water Villas come at a premium in the Maldives! It feels so secluded and quiet as it's reached by seaplane - which in itself is an amazing experience! Being able to see the Maldives from the air is incredible! The island has a great atmosphere and the villas are really tastefully decorated.

Constance Halaveli is a beautiful island surrounded by a brilliant house reef and suits both families and couples alike. The Family Beach Villas have an interconnecting bunk bed room best suited for younger families. The Double Storey Beach Villas are extremely spacious and have a separate twin bed room for children; the space means that a family of 5 can comfortably be accommodated here. The Kuda Kids Club is excellent and offers a range of activities daily, meaning that parents can enjoy so quiet time!
The spacious water villas are located on the longest jetty in the Maldives and are very private. They are extremely large and all have a plunge pool and offer fantastic views out into the ocean. The snorkelling here is fantastic and you can snorkelling in front of the main pool or directly from your water villa.

Our seaplane to Halaveli was shared with a family who were returning for their third visit and it was so lovely to see the welcome they received from the Halaveli team at the arrival jetty. The eldest sons dive instructor was there to greet him and talk about all the great dives they were going to go on and the manager of the kids club was there to give a huge hug to the youngest who ran into her arms delighted to be returning to their holiday island paradise and I can see why they love it here as a mother myself this place ticks all the boxes for a wonderful family holiday!
I particularly like the family accommodation options here all of which open out directly onto the beach and offer beautiful indoor/outdoor bathrooms and oversized plunge pools. For those with younger children under 12 years of age the Family Beach Villas are fantastic as just off of the master bedroom is a separate small kids room complete with bunkbed, kids wardrobe and moon and star lights, perfect for younger kids. For those families with older children or wanting a little more space the two storey villas are great as these have a bedroom upstairs for the kids and their own separate bathroom!

We dived every day during our stay and were delighted with the service provided by the TGI dive centre. The staff were very professional and highly knowledgeable, and made each dive safe and fun. The underwater photographer was very talented and took some great photos which we will treasure! The centre visits some wonderful dive sites, with more fish than we have seen at any other Maldivian destination so far! We also used the gym each day and enjoyed the coaching tips of the trainer. Our son had two tennis lessons with the pro, which he enjoyed, although the lessons were quite expensive compared with UK prices.
A great experience, definitely worth a return visit. One suggestion for improvement for the hotel would be to provide a British newspaper other than The Mail. We would have preferred one of the broadsheets: Times, Telegraph, FT or Guardian would have been preferable.
The sea plane transfers went smoothly in both directions.
[We] Would recommend to friends who like diving and enjoy a luxurious service above the water as well as below it.

Constance Halavelli is an excellent island for families, with the spacious 1 bedroom Beach Villas and an interconnecting bunk room for two children. For those larger families, the duplex Beach Villas can comfortably accommodate five, with two bathrooms. The Kuda Kids Club accepts unaccompanied children from four to eleven years, and offers a great range of activities such as shell hunting and painting, pizza making and sand art to name a few, leaving the parents to relax in the sunshine or enjoy the overwater spa.

I love the fact that while this resort is ultra luxurious and contemporary in style, it is still very relaxed and you can leave you heels and diamonds at home. The staff are so incredibly friendly and feel like a large family welcoming you into their home. Little extra touches of generous hospitality constantly crop up, from the resident manager getting behind the bar to show off his cocktail skills, to one of their three sommeliers inviting you back to their wine cellar after dinner for a glass of port and a goggle at their selection of over 750 different wines.
