Eastern & Oriental Hotel

A brainchild of the Armenian Sarkies brothers, the Eastern began its history back in 1884 and gained popularity almost overnight and a year later, in 1885, when the Oriental was established the hotels combined to form the Eastern & Oriental Hotel, Penang.

Known simply as `The E&O' to generations of travellers, The Eastern & Oriental Hotel is the embodiment of traditional luxury. For well over a century, this remarkable hotel - has stood as a testament to the grand elegance of the British colonial era and it's design honours the island's history.
