Set high in the verdant hills north of Kuala Lumpur, amidst tea plantations and strawberry farms, lies the Cameron Highlands Resort. The property is a wonderfully colonial building, hinting at the highlands’ roots in British tradition. First mapped in 1885 by William Cameron, this hill station retains a quintessentially English atmosphere, with afternoon tea served on the terrace being a real highlight. Visit the tea plantations to learn about the most English of drinks and stroll through the strawberry plantations taking in the cool mountain air. The Cameron Highlands are a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur and add a different dimension to a holiday in Malaysia. The property is very traditional and classic, not for fans of the super modern style of hotel, but is a real retreat and a must for those spending longer in the region.
