To start planning your vacation to Eskaya
Eskaya Beach Resort is located in an unspoiled area of the Philippines on the beautiful island of Panglao. Panglao is in the north Bohol sea and is part of the Visayas island group. Eskaya is however located away from the bustling Alona Beach so you get a sense of seclusion but it is close enough to head to for some evening atmosphere.
It is a small retreat with just 15 villas so it has a charming personal feel to it and you instantly feel at home. It has its own private beach and a wonderful infinity pool creating the ultimate beach destination. However, if you are a bit more of an active person do not shy away as there are coves to be explored, mountains to be hiked, reefs to dived and waters to be swam in.
The villas are spacious and there is a range to choose from. There is even a family villa if you are coming with some little ones in tow. All villas are furnished with local materials, equipped with the latest technology and are complete with their own pools.
Dining locations are variable - poolside, in your villa, on the beach, pretty much wherever you fancy! There is also a fabulous spa where you can escape the real world for an hour or two by indulging in a much needed massage or treat your skin to a body scrub.
A stay here is really something special, you feel like you are on a deserted island with the smallness of the resort and the tropical scenery - idyllic!
Eskaya's accommodation is in the form of single detached villas of different categories. Some have pools, some have sea views and some have two bedrooms so you can choose one to suit you! The interiors have adopted a rather rustic and simple style which gives them a nice island feel.

Children are welcome to come and stay at Eskaya and the two-bedroom villas will practically accommodate families.
There are a few different dining venues at Eskaya. Lantawan Restaurant has a warm atmosphere and faces the infinity pool and looks out to the sea. If you want to dine outside, you can do so next to the pool, this is best enjoyed at night when the moon shines brightly. For a more private dining option, head down to the beach for a bonfire and some delicious char grilled food. Ingredients are sourced locally, they even have their own garden! Eat as much seafood as you can as it is so fresh.
Handuraw Spa has a great location with views out to the sea making all treatments here that little bit more memorable. Of course, the professional therapists are also something to write home about with their experienced hands and local traditional therapies providing you with some relaxing and healing treatments.
Take a tour of the area where you can see the Chocolate Hills, the Tarsiers, the Butterfly Garden and Baclayon Church and cruise down the Lobo River - it really gives you a picture of the area you are staying in and gives you a cultural perspective of the province.
The renowned Alona beach is about a 20-minute bike ride away, it is definitely worth a visit as it is rather special but beware it can get quite busy.
An island tour to include snorkeling and dolphin watching is a fun activity! There is some great underwater life here and some fabulous swimming opportunities.
Balicasag is the place to head to for some fabulous diving. With soft and hard coral, the variety of marine life you may encounter is big. If you are a beginner, you can enrol on a program to certify.
Location & Directions
Eskaya is located on the southern part of the island of Panglao. It is in a quiet location, however it is just a short trip to the more bustly area of Alona Beach if you want some restaurants and bars in the evening.
When to go
Generally, the dry season runs from November to May, with scattered showers between June and October. January is usually the coolest month, with temperatures averaging about 25°C, and May the hottest, with an average temperature of about 28°C.
