Offering warm temperatures throughout the year the Caribbean is a perfect year round destination. With an average of 9 hours sunshine a day the peak season runs from December through to April which is the dry season when you can expect very little rainfall. May to November are the slightly wetter months where you will find an increase in rainfall as the summer season goes on and with that some humidity, however the Summer months are still a great time to travel as the temperatures are hot and the rain tends to come in short heavy bursts but not all day long. The wettest months with the most humidity are September and October and these are the most probable months for hurricanes to occur in the region although many islands have not experienced hurricanes for a number of years. The average daily temperatures range from the mid-seventies in the winter months and mid-eighties in the summertime.

Just 10 minutes from the airport, it is the perfect resort style hotel in Jamaica and nowhere quite like it. There will never be a dull moment for anyone. Guests can go horse riding along the beach, or in the sea, children can enjoy the kids club or you can just relax, unwind and soak in the Jamaican sun whilst lying on the beach or by a pool. There is plenty of space and even when the hotel is running at a high occupancy you just do not know where everyone is! There is accommodation for everyone and for those larger families there are spacious five, six or seven bedroom villas to enjoy. For those golf lovers, Half Moon also has a golf course to enjoy, and there are four restaurants to sample and a lovely spa in the heart of the resort.

The first thing that struck me about this resort was its sheer size, set in 400 acres of beachfront nature reserve the resort is large but spread out so that you can still find that quiet spot on the beach to get away from it all if you wish! The resort has an abundance of activities and facilities so it is a fantastic choice for large families who want a resort that has something to offer everyone from grandparents right down to the youngest family member.
With various types of accommodation available ranging from rooms and duplex family suites right through to the opulent Royal Villas that come with staff and your own golf buggy for getting around, there's accommodation to suit every size of family. I stayed in the Royal Villas with a group of friends which worked really well as it gave us plenty of space to all be together and enjoy our own private pool and its location at the far end of the resort meant that we had a deserted beach to enjoy!
Don't let the size of the resort put you off, it really doesn't feel that big once you're here and with its huge range of facilities it really is a destination in itself. There are 6 restaurants to choose from, lots of different swimming pools, tennis courts, an 18 hole putting course, 18 hole championship golf course and an equestrian centre which is great as you can ride the horses out along the far end of the beach in the ocean. For a family looking for a holiday that really offers something for everyone Half Moon is most certainly one to consider!
