Straddling the equator, Indonesia tends to have a fairly even climate year-round. Rather than four seasons, Indonesia has two – wet and dry – and there are no extremes of temperature between winter and summer. In most parts of Indonesia, the wet season falls between October and April and the dry season between May and September. December and January see Indonesia at its most humid and rain tends to come in sudden tropical downpours, but it can also rain for more prolonged periods.

Plataran Borobudur is in the perfect location to see Borobudur Temple. Not only is it an easy 10 minute drive to the temple, but you can even see the wonder from multiple locations in the resort -including certain rooms, the lobby, and top floor restaurant. Each traditional Javanese inspired room comes with a private plunge or full size pool. It was the perfect way to cool down after a long morning of temple exploration.

This Dutch influenced hotel is a great place to make your way to Borobudur for sunrise and marvel in its majesty. Return to the hotel for a delicious breakfast on the terrace looking out over the local area, as it's an early rise for the tour I headed back to my room for a rest by the pool and a lie down which is a nice place to relax especially with the spacious rooms.

Plataran Borobudur is in a great location, with distant views of the famous temples. I preferred the more modern rooms, as the traditional villas were a little tired inside. We had a delicious dinner and the afternoon tea is a must.
