Straddling the equator, Indonesia tends to have a fairly even climate year-round. Rather than four seasons, Indonesia has two – wet and dry – and there are no extremes of temperature between winter and summer. Given the different climates throughout the archipelago, the vessel is able to operate different expeditions at different times of year. Between December and March, the Alila Purnama operates expeditions to explore the magical waters of Raja Ampat, and from April to November, the expedition changes course for the mythical island of Komodo.

Superlatively luxurious, exquisitely crafted and charting a course through some of the most scenic waterways in the world, Dunia Baru offers a private sailing experience beyond compare.
As a private charter, Dunia Baru offers a sensational home-from-home aboard a luxuriously appointed yacht that sympathetically embraces the beauty of Indonesia’s heritage while cutting edge technologies and an expert crew ensure a smooth and incomparably comfortable voyage. Accommodating 14 guests across seven cabins, the yacht takes inspiration from the traditional Indonesian phinisi and its billowing sails set the scene for an extraordinary voyage across dazzling seas and through an archipelago where floating villages emerge from an emerald jungle and a kaleidoscope of rainbow fish dance in the diamond-clear waters.
Evoking an era of bygone elegance and graceful charm, Dunia Baru’s seven cabins are a masterpiece of design, combining teakwood and traditional artworks with fresh-air handling air conditioning systems and powerful showers, tempurpedic mattresses and custom mood lighting. Six of the yacht’s cabins are spread across the Lower Deck, while a large Master Suite on the Bridge offers panoramic views and a private day bed on the aft deck, ideal for lazing in the Indonesian sun.
Dining on-board Dunia Baru is without compare, a five star culinary experience at sea, with only the gentle lapping of the water and the silence of the ocean to compete with the exquisite flavours of the menu. Artfully crafted by the yacht’s celebrated chef, the dishes can be enjoyed in the social hub of the galley with its central island or al fresco on the aft deck. In the evening, the deck is transformed into an open air bar, where a specially crafted cocktail can be enjoyed under a blanket of stars.
Charting a course through the spectacularly beautiful landscapes of the Indonesian archipelago, Dunia Baru’s itinerary is personally designed with you in mind. With 18,000 islands and a vast expanse of tranquil turquoise waters to explore, your adventure may take in the dragons of komodo, dive spots where a vibrant display of marine life awaits, legendary surf breaks and pristine beaches of sugar-fine sands, fringed with a knotted tangle of untouched jungle.
With the modern technologies and luxurious attention to detail of a super yacht, yet with the character and charm of an ancient sailboat, Dunia Baru offers exceptional accommodation, world-class dining and an unparalleled opportunity to explore lands little touched by the outside world.
Sinking back into the bamboo linens and tempurpedic mattresses of the cabin as the boat gently rocks and the absolute silence of the ocean descends is a sensation without compare. Be lulled to sleep by the water lapping at the wooden hull and rise with the sun, refreshed and ready for another day of adventure, new experiences and once-in-a-lifetime encounters. Teakwood surrounds, traditional handicrafts and a pared back, uncluttered space invite you to unwind, while ensuite bathrooms with powerful showers complete the relaxation potential. While every room offers a serene sanctuary, the Master suite on the Bridge Deck is the ultimate private escape, with a daybed on the aft deck and large windows that flood the room with light and frame a spellbinding view of the passing scenery.
With a number of shared spaces, including open-air decks, a cosy lounge, library and galley with central island, Dunia Baru creates a convivial, welcoming home from the moment you step aboard. When not diving down into an underwater paradise of gin-clear waters and tropical fish, unwind in an armchair with a book, sunbathe with a refreshing drink on the deck or listen to music on the Sonos 14-zone integrated music system. A 60” flat screen TV, complete with surround sound, is ideal for movie nights while 3G wireless internet allows you to stay connected with friends and family, or simply post envy-inducing photos of the Instagram-worthy surrounds. The onboard chef and his team whip up world-class dishes in the professional-grade kitchen or in front of your very eyes on the tepanyaki grill. Dine on the freshest seafood, explore the spices and flavours of Indonesia’s varied cuisines and settle in for an evening of bonhomie, laughter, good food and wine as you drift leisurely on the sparkling waters.
Your days on Dunia Baru can be as lazy or as action-packed as you wish. With an itinerary tailored to your interests, requirements and whims, you could explore islands that offer a Robinson Crusoe experience, albeit with a hint more luxury. Drop anchor in a deserted bay and dive into the diamond-like waters to discover the marine world of the archipelago or speed across the waves on a jet ski. The supremely well-equipped dive gear includes 12 Aqua Lung BCD/regulator sets, 36 80cu tanks and 2 Nuvair air compressors, while two jet skis, three kayaks, three stand-up paddleboards, water skis, a Banana boat and a sailing dinghy provide all the water-based entertainment you could imagine.
One day you could be hiking up a volcano, the next walking with the fearsome Komodo dragons, chatting with the residents of a Sea Gypsy village or discovering the art of traditional medicines. Dunia Baru is your floating home and the 20-strong crew are on hand to craft a journey that uncovers one of the most beautiful corners of the world, with individual flourishes and thoughtful touches that make it uniquely yours.
