The typical Mediterranean climate of Provence and the Cote d'Azur has long drawn visitors here. Late Spring brings warm temperatures that can reach nearly 30C by July. Sunshine is abundant, with nearly 12 hours a day in mid-summer. The mistral wind can bring a cooler wind in early Spring, but this part of the Riviera is more protected. July is the driest month, and rain showers tend to be infrequent.
Visiting Chamonix in summer provides the opportunity to appreciate the sheer breadth of beauty that the Alps offers. Visually stunning, the white snow capped peaks of the Mont Blanc mountain range contrast beautifully with the lush green pastures below, brimming with colourful alpine flowers. Warmer days but cooler nights provide an all round pleasant climate, suitable for everyone.
