Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

With moderate winters and summers, this is a perfect place to visit in the spring, summer and autumn. Spring in France provides the right climate for the picturesque green hills with pretty flowers and calm weather. April showers occur on occasion, but it is nothing an umbrella cannot handle. Spring and summer are especially lovely because of the beauty that these seasons bestow upon the French countryside, however the autumn months make travel and sightseeing very comfortable - even with the occasional drizzle and chillier conditions in the evenings as the end of autumn draws in.

This luxury itinerary offers a cultural and culinary exploration of France’s most captivating regions. From the sights of Paris to champagne tastings and vineyard picnics, discovering medieval villages and historical chateaux along the way.

  1. Fly to Paris

  2. Days 1-4: Paris

Paris is our first stop on this delightful French itinerary where our expert guides will ensure you get the most out of your visit, whether it’s exclusive entrance to the Eiffel tower, a private dinner cruise along the Seine or a specialist tour of the Louvre. The Chateau of Versailles is the jewel in the crown and your guide will walk you through the pristine gardens and hall of mirrors as you learn the story of Marie-Antoinette’s life. Add to this a romantic stroll through the cobbled streets of Montmartre and recommendations for the best restaurants in town and you have the perfect start to your French itinerary.

Accommodation: Hotel Le Bristol (3 nights)

  3. Days 4-6: Champagne

A short journey to the Champagne-Ardennes region by either car or high-speed train takes you to the unofficial Champagne capital of Reims. This region is home to the major Champagne houses, Veuve Clicquot, Laurent Perrier and Moet & Chandon, to pick just a few names, and your time here will be full of delicious tastings and discovery of the wine country. A drive through the ‘Champagne route’ to Epernay brings pretty villages, rolling hillside coated with endless vines and some of the fascinating smaller champagne producers eager to welcome you for a tour of their wine cellars.

Accommodation: Domaine Les Crayères (2 nights)

  4. Days 6-9: Burgundy

Continuing onwards to the medieval town of Beaune in Burgundy you’ll get your first sample of the delicious local wine with a tasting stop in Chablis as you explore this picturesque region. Beaune itself is a delight to wander around with its quaint old town and ‘Vins des Hospices’ marketplace. The Burgundy region has a distinct ‘terroir’ or soil and is home to mainly red wines made from Pinot Noir or Gamay grapes which you’ll have chance to sample for yourself in one of the family-run estates of the ‘Grand Crus’ area. Further exploration of the fantastic Burgundy wine region is best enjoyed by a steady bike ride through the charming countryside and unfolding vineyards, the landscapes are remarkable, and your guide will suggest the finest estates to pause for a private tasting or two.

Accommodation: Les Deux Chevres (3 nights)

  5. Days 9-11: Loire Valley

The next stop is the Loire Valley, an area steeped in history – the formation of the region as we know it today began after its conquest by Julius Caesar in 52BC. This is the home of hundreds of magnificent chateaux, from the Renaissance masterpiece of Chenonceau to the Royal Chateau of Amboise and we have an expert on hand to make this history come alive through private guided visits, stories and intriguing anecdotes. Take a private boat cruise along the river and sail underneath the arches of Chenonceau castle whilst sipping some of the local wines for a truly unique viewpoint and a more relaxing take on the passing villages or soak up the atmosphere at the local market of Amboise. We can even organise a hot air balloon ride over the magnificent chateaux dotted panorama of the valley.

Accommodation: Domaine Hauts de Loire (2 nights)

  6. Days 11-12: Paris

Spend the final night in Paris for some shopping perhaps or ask us for some restaurant recommendations for a meal to round off your holiday in style.
