Tignes boasts one of the longest ski seasons in the world as it benefits from one of the highest locations at 2,100m, and 80% of the skiing happens above 2000 metres. As a result, early and late season offer reliable great conditions. Being high, it is cold though and we think March and April are the best times to visit Tignes
The boutique 5* Hotel Les Suites - Maison Bouvier adds a touch of luxury to the resort of Tignes. Close to the slopes, exquisitely styled with a focus on gastronomy, the hotel combines alpine chic with contemporary design. Ideal for families and couples.
Hotel Les Suites - Maison Bouvier is the first 5* hotel in the resort of Tignes. Close to the slopes, in the heart of Val Claret, it’s a luxury boutique offering, blending traditional alpine chalet architecture with contemporary design, with an exciting focus on gastronomy. Owned and managed by the husband and wife team Jean-Michel and Catherine Bouvier who have a pedigree track record in stylish hospitality, the hotel is the resort’s most luxurious place to stay. Jean-Michel is the chef and is in charge of everything from breakfast through to dinner, whilst Catherine’s extraordinary eye for design can be admired everywhere, and even copied, with a shop in the hotel itself.
With 31 rooms and suites, guests can choose between the Classique and the Tradition - the latter being slightly larger in size. Each one is individually styled and decorated, and they are all both spacious and truly luxurious. Comprising either one or two bedrooms, they are ideal for couples or families with older children.
There is a lively bar just off the reception area - the Whitney Bar - which has a real buzz about the place. With its excellent selection of cocktails and comfy sofas - it's a lovely place for relaxing with an aperitif before dinner or a few drinks after. The hotel's own gastronomic restaurant is headed up by Jean-Michel and serves a mouth-watering selection of Savoyard cuisine - including a stunning fish dish with the main ingredient coming straight from Lake Geneva. A wonderful buffet greets you each morning for breakfast with a hearty choice of fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, bread, meats and cheeses to set you up for a great day on the slopes. Jean-Michel also owns and runs the Panoramic restaurant on the Grande Motte glacier. At 3032m above sea level, the 360 degree views from here are astounding and the food doesn't disappoint either.
Access to the slopes couldn't be easier. They are just 100m from the door and since the hotel can arrange your ski passes, there's no need to spend time in a queue when you arrive. The staff at Hotel Les Suites are incredibly friendly and provide an excellent, personal level of service, taking care of your every need. The concierge service can organise restaurant bookings and babysitting.
Tignes is at the heart of the Tarentaise valley and part of the vast Espace Killy. Linked to its sister resort Val d'Isere, it has over 300km of pistes and is arguably one of the world’s best ski areas. Its altitude means that it has one of France's highest snow sure factors, and with terrain suitable for every level and an exceptionally good lift system, it's a great ski destination.
The 31 rooms and suites are either Classique or Tradition, sleeping between two people and four people. They all have WiFi internet access, flat screen TV, mini bar, safe and balcony. The bathrooms have a rain-shower and a whirlpool bath.
|Classique Suite for two people||
Sleeping 2 people, the Classique suites are large open plan rooms (45m²), with a king sized bed, sitting room with LCD TV. The en-suite bathroom has a large shower & bath, with separate WC.
|Tradition Suite for two people||
The main difference between this suite and the Classique is that is slightly larger (55m²) and the decor is a little more understated. The bathroom will either have a shower or spa bath.
|Classique Suite for four people||
A two bedroom suite (65m²) ideal for families, made up of master bedroom with king size bed, sitting room with LCD TV and second bedroom with twin beds. There are two bathrooms, the master has a shower and bath and the second just a shower. Separate WCs.
|Tradition Suite for four people||
With a similar layout and facilities to the Classique, the Tradition Suite is slightly larger (75m²) and is more understated in style.
Whilst there are no specific childcare facilities at the hotel, children are welcome and equipment such as cots and high chairs are available. We feel that the hotel is best suited to families with older children who don't require childcare.
Ursus at Hotel Les Suites is one of the best places to eat in Tignes and headed up by chef Clement Bouvier (son of Jean-Michel Bouvier). Alternatively La table d'Jeanne is a lovely rustic restaurant offering dishes using local produce. The Whitney Bar with its open fire has a lovely atmosphere and the perfect place to relax after a day on the slopes. The Spa is a luxurious wellness centre with swimming pool, Jacuzzi, saunas, Hamman, fitness centre and beauty centre.
Long Party - January 2018 (Guest)
Great ski area and very nice and friendly hotel
Bayfield Party - April 2016 (Guest)
Lucy Hunt was very patient, helpful and responsive. The depth of her knowledge and her candour were impressive, reassuring and refreshing. She did the perfect job in advising me and in arranging our holiday. The hotel was truly excellent. Our family suite was ideal - very spacious, beautifully appointed, spotless, functional, and modern. The swimming pool area was large and similarly spotless. Breakfast was good by European standards and the restaurant (for dinner) was good value (relative to the local restaurants) and very comfortable. The staff (waiters, receptionists, barmen etc) were all very obliging and charming. Nothing was too much trouble and the skiing was excellent.
