Average time to visit
All year round destination. Due to its position on the equator and its altitude, the temperature in the Ecuadorian highlands varies greatly between night and day. Daytime temperatures average 23-25ºC, while at night temperatures drop to around 10ºC. In general, days are clear in the morning and cloud over in the afternoon, with rain common in the afternoon. The drier season runs from the end of May to the end September, with another brief summertime in early December (which coincides nicely with the city’s fiestas).

Description
Chilcabamba Ecolodge is a simple yet charming lodge, nestled on the edge of Cotopaxi National Park. Surrounded by volcanoes, it is the perfect place for those who love the great outdoors and want to experience a traditional slice of Ecuador.
Built from local and recycled materials, with thick adobe walls and thatched roofs, Chilcabamba Eco lodge is traditional and charming. A stay here is basic, rooms are very simple and the facilities are rustic, but the views of Cotopaxi Volcano looming over the lodge cannot be beaten. Each of the 10 simple en-suite rooms are rustic, warm and come equipped with wood burning stoves and thick blankets.
This is a place for those who love the great outdoors and want to be active, with opportunities to explore the surrounding area on foot, bike or horse. Explore waterfalls, horse-ride with a local chagra (Ecuador cowboy) and mix with local communities, where you can learn to farm and understand the local way of life. With its warm hospitality and attentive-friendly service, Chilcabamba Eco lodge serves as the perfect home-from-home after a days' exploring. Guests eat together in the cosy restaurant, where hearty dishes are served and everyone swaps stories about the days adventures experienced.
