Alberta has a dry continental climate with warm summers and cold winters, making it a year round destination. The ski season is from December to March and the summer season from May to September. At any time of year you can expect the sun to be out. Winters can get cold, when the temperature can plummet to a bone chilling -20°C. Summers tend to be hot and dry, with the warmest months being July and August, where the temperature sits at a comfortable 25°C.

In the heart of the Canadian Rockies on a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge offers a fantastic location for enjoying this beautiful area in summer or winter. Set on a tranquil lake, the lodge is perfect for families and couples.
Positioned so guests can enjoy the full outdoor experience, the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is nestled into the shores of beautiful Lake Mildred with the Rocky Mountains as a dramatic backdrop.
The hotel offers an impressive location for exploring the delights of the Rockies or for simply enjoying everything that is on offer.
The lodge offers a very different atmosphere in summer and winter. Summer brings the opening of the golf course, where guests can enjoy a round and view the local wildlife at the same time. It's not unknown for a local moose to wander on the fairway from time to time.
Beyond the golf, guests can enjoy fantastic walking trails, mountain biking, paddling across the lake or enjoying the outdoor pool.
As winter brings the snow, the lake freezes over and guests can skate across it, go tobogganing, take a wagon ride or for the more adventurous, head off on snowmobiles or go dog sledding. Downhill skiing opens up as well and is very popular.
The lodge offers great facilities for all the family with a choice of restaurants and bars to suit every palate. Children are very well looked after with plenty to keep them busy from giant board games through to complimentary golf.
The newly opened Fairmont Spa offers a sanctuary for those who like a little pampering. With 10 treatment rooms, mineral baths and Jacuzzi, the spa is inspired by the natural elements of Jasper National Park, reflecting the energy of the mountains, rivers and waterfalls surrounding it.
At any time of the year, the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge offers a very special and picturesque environment to absorb yourself in to the Rocky Mountains.
The lodge offers a variety of accommodation from standard and deluxe rooms to junior and lake front suites.
Each guest room offers a choice of King or twin double beds, coffee maker and kettle, heating and ceiling fan, cable TV and telephone. In addition, all suites offer bathrobes, fireplace, sofa bed and some have Jacuzzis. Rollaways and cribs can be added to the suites.
The lodge also offers nine Luxury Signature Cabins, all unique in style and size, scattered in the lodge grounds. Offering between one and eight bedrooms, these cabins are ideal for guests looking for privacy or for families or friends travelling together.
Children are welcome at the lodge. Babysitting is available on request and there are special children's menus. Complimentary toboggan rental is available in the winter and complimentary golf in the summer when playing with an adult.
The activity centre has an abundance of choices for children including a giant Jenga, snakes and ladders and Draughts.
Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge has five restaurants (some seasonal) and two bars, outdoor heated swimming pool, Fairmont Spa, exercise room, table tennis and snooker table, kids room, hair salon, 18 hole Golf course open May to October, gift shops.
Outdoor activity centre (summer only) with giant board games, shuffleboard, badminton, volley ball, pitch and putt. Mountain bikes are available for you to rent.
Boathouse (summer only) with paddle boats, canoes and guided Clipper Tours.
Winter activities available include tobogganing, snow shoeing, ice skating on Lake Mildred and wagon rides.
Activities available at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge include white water rafting, Miette Hot Springs and Maligne Canyon are all close by and trips to all can be arranged through the hotel.
Horse riding is also available nearby.
Guided fishing tours, helicopter tours to Icefields Parkway.
Winter activities include dog sledding, heli skiing, snowmobiling, Maligne Canyon ice walks.

This beautiful resort on the lake is just perfect for the summer with the children, there are an abundance of activities to do whether you stay on-site the whole time or if you would prefer to venture out and explore the beautiful surroundings of Jasper National Park. Although Jasper Town doesn't have a huge amount to do, it is still a great old mining town to enjoy and walk around and the hotel has everything you need anyway. There is a great selection of activities at the hotel as well as a good selection of restaurants and you really do feel like you are at a summer resort for families.
