Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

High season is generally December to April when it's warm and humid. The coastal location ensures that temperatures rarely exceed 30°C and generally do not fall below 13°C (night-time in July). Even in winter (June-September), when rates are lower, daytime temperatures usually reach 21°C. This can be a lovely time to visit as it is warm in the day, cooler at night and drier. Rainfall is a possibility throughout the year, but the peak summer months of January and February often experience heavier showers. Christmas, New Year, January, Carnival, Easter and Paraty's International Literary Festival (normally held in July) are high season and hotels will be busy.

Boasting original colonial architecture blended with modern creature comforts, Pousada Porto Imperial is in the heart of picturesque Paraty. With tropical gardens, pool and cheery bar/lounge it’s the perfect base from which to explore the cobbled streets.

Set along a cobbled street on the banks of the Perequê-açu River in the historic heart of Paraty, Pousada Porto Imperial is a charmingly converted former commercial warehouse dating from 1804. While retaining much of its historic character, the hotel also boasts facilities such as a swimming pool, sauna, wifi and air-conditioning that bring it firmly into the 21st century.

The 43 rooms are simply decorated, with white walls and linens offset by colourful accents in the soft furnishings. Spread across the first and second floors, all rooms are access by stairs, with no lift. With Standard, Superior and Suites, all with various configurations of beds, the accommodation can suit families, couples and friends.

After a day of exploring the main sights of Paraty, the pool, jacuzzi and sauna provide a welcome retreat, while the charming garden and reading room offer a calm escape. Enjoy a drink in the pool bar or lounge, before heading out to the many restaurants of the city.

Pousada Porto Imperial is ideally located to explore the historic and cultural highlights of Paraty, as well as its stunning beaches. Walking distance to a number of beaches, and only 14km from the renowned Trindade beach, the hotel is also close to Paraty Bay, sheltered by 65 islands and ideal for boat trips. Caminho do Ouro is 8km away, while the town itself boasts a lively atmosphere with restaurants, bars, live music and many religious, literary, sporting and culinary events throughout the year.
