Deep in the heart of the Okavango Delta, within a private 420,000-acre concession shared only with Singita, Elela is a celebration of water, light and wilderness in constant motion. Its name means 'to flow' in Setswana — an idea you'll feel from the moment you arrive, as floodwaters thread beneath raised walkways and mesh-walled camps open entirely to the landscape beyond.
Elela comprises eight circular, stilted camps — five one-bedroom, two two-bedroom and one exclusive four-bedroom camp — each raised above the floodplain for uninterrupted 360-degree views. Every camp is entirely private, with its own guide, tracker, vehicle, Camp Manager and arrival point, so your days unfold at your own pace. Inside, you'll find relaxed indoor and outdoor living spaces, a fireplace and firepit for cool Delta evenings, a well-stocked pantry, and a pool (heated through the winter months) to cool off between game drives. A dedicated lounge in each camp is reserved for in-camp wellness rituals, drawing on indigenous ingredients and techniques.
For those travelling as a family or larger group, the four-bedroom camp raises the bar further still, with two private vehicles, a personal chef, a fully equipped fitness space, and a private wine cellar showcasing South Africa's finest vintages.
At the heart of the property, a vibrant communal hub invites you to slow down and connect — with the land, and with the people who know it best. Here you'll find shared indoor and outdoor dining spaces, a sensorial two-storey Conservation Lounge where guides share stories of the Delta's ecology and heritage, a Boutique & Gallery filled with curated African art and craft, a larger communal fitness space, and the regional campus of the Singita Community Culinary School.
Days at Elela move with the rhythm of the wilderness itself. Set out on guided walks and daily drives across the concession, glide through papyrus-lined channels by mokoro or motorboat (both seasonal), or take to the skies for a helicopter flight over the Delta's extraordinary mosaic of islands and waterways. Evenings call for stargazing beneath some of Africa's darkest skies, a glass of something good from the cellar, or simply time by the fire, watching the floodplains catch the last light.
Elela is reached via a short, scenic flight with Mack Air from Maun or Kasane to the Singita Airstrip, followed by a 15-minute transfer through the bush — the perfect prelude to a stay unlike any other in Botswana. Children of all ages are warmly welcomed, making this a rare chance for multigenerational safari travel at the very highest level.
