Fun for everyone at Costa Navarino

Hannah, one of our Mediterranean Travel Consultants, recently had a whirlwind trip to luxury resort, Costa Navarino. Situated on the Peloponnese coast of Greece.

On a recent trip to Costa Navarino, I managed to cram more into a couple of days than I usually would in a week long holiday…so for anyone who’s ever wondered if there’s enough going on there, you could stay for a month without twiddling your thumbs!

As soon as we had checked into the Westin we set off exploring the resort. I’ll be the first to admit I’m not known for my sense of direction, so the resort map we were given definitely came in handy! We took a stroll from one pool to the next, getting distracted by views and sunsets on the way and found our way to 1827 Lounge and Bar where we stopped for a pre-dinner cocktail. Personally, I believe no holiday is complete without a Pina Colada and I always put in some serious effort testing these out across the Mediterranean! Of course it would have been rude not to have added this one to the list and I have to say, so far it’s top of the leader board!

Following on from this, we took a buggy over to Flame which overlooks the Dunes Golf Course for the first of many incredible meals at Costa Navarino. We just caught a glimpse of the views before the sun went down, by which point I was paying full attention to my homemade burger with pumpkin chutney!

Day two continued on the foodie theme as we made our way to nearby Pylos for a traditional Messinian cooking lesson. I almost felt like I was stepping back in time when we turned up at the sweetest little house with uninterrupted views over Navarino Bay. Everything was so traditional; it was a real treat to step right into authentic Greek culture and I loved hearing tales of local traditions and stories from Anna and Lulah, as they helped us make a fresh pasta dish for lunch. We got right into the spirit of things and ended the meal with some spontaneous Greek dancing before heading off to Voidokilia beach for a quick paddle in the crystal clear sea.

After passing through Gialova (the nearest town to Costa Navarino) we arrived back at resort in time to test out the spa (award winning spa I might add, and rightly so!). We had some much needed time to relax and rejuvenate, in preparation for the hike Navarino Outdoors had lined up for the very next day… The nearby waterfalls were well worth the walk, and jumping into the pools in such beautiful surroundings was something I won’t forget for a long time.

Just a short stay was enough to show me how much Costa Navarino and the surrounding area has to offer. It’s easy to see why it’s such a popular choice for families as there really is something for everyone.
