One of England’s most beautiful houses, Castle Howard was built in the 18th century by Sir John Vanbrugh for the Third Earl of Carlisle. Today it remains home to the Howard family and visitors can discover dramatic interiors containing world-renowned collections, and learn about the lives of previous generations, the house and its history.

The 1,000 acre grounds and parkland, including a walled rose garden, ornamental vegetable garden and woodland garden, are dotted with statues, temples, lakes and fountains. Children can explore illustrated trails, jump on a land train to the lakeside adventure playground, and in the summer you can take boat trips on the Great Lake.
