The lifts to the slopes are a couple of minutes' walk away, taking you directly in the vast and breathtakingly beautiful ski area - the Dolomites are an UNESCO World Heritage site. Run by the same family since the 1960s, warmth and welcoming hospitality are in no short supply and guests are looked after perfectly. And if all this isn't enough, then the food here and in the mountains makes this area and in particular this hotel, well worth a visit.

Built in a traditional chalet style, the Ciasa Salares is a charming, spacious and comfortable hotel. Bedrooms are bright and cosy, and many of them have a balcony giving wonderful views of the Dolomite peaks. Guests here experience the most unbelievable cuisine. Breakfasts are hearty and substantial - perfect for a day's skiing, and the lunches on the sunny terrace of La Terrazza are delicious. The choice of restaurants is exceptional giving the size of the hotel itself. Indeed food and drink are taken so seriously here, that each week guests are invited to the wine cellar to sample delicious products, this unique experience is an opportunity to taste local food surrounded by the cellar walls stocking over 24,000 bottles, representing 1,800 different wines.

Ciasa Salares has its own Cheese Room, with no less than 70 different cheeses, and a member of the hotel's Cheese Team will expertly guide you through the varieties. And guests simply have to visit the Chocolate Room, this room houses 40 sorts of fine chocolate, for tasting and buying, from fig covered chocolate to 100% dark chocolate. Fresh fruit skewers can be dipped into pure Venezuelan chocolate from the room's own fountain. You'll need to ski quite hard to work it all off.

The Dolomites are situated in the Southern Alps in the north of Italy. The ski domain is known as the Dolomiti Superski and consists of 460 lifts and 760 miles of ski runs. The area consists of 12 valleys all accessible under one ski pass and there is enough different terrain to suit all levels of skier.
