Highlights
Take advantage of this central location and head out to explore this vibrant city.
Be sure to go to and from the airport in style using the hotels vintage limousine!
Cool off in the 20 meter pool and enjoy the luxurious oasis the hotel offers.
Full of mid-century style and glamour, Viroth’s hotel is a wonderful example of New Khmer Architecture, offering an Asian spin on the modernist movement of the Fifties and Sixties, which some have dubbed, Tropical Bauhaus. But whatever label is used to describe this achingly stylish gem, it’s bright, sassy and smart, with some of the most thoughtful and friendly staff we’ve encountered, all at pains to help you enjoy your time in Siem Reap. The two white wings of the hotel are softened by trailing vines and you’ll find lots of lush planting, including vertical green walls throughout the building. An impressive winding staircase leads up to the walkway which connects the two wings. The public spaces all flow easily into each other, from the lobby, to the lounge, the restaurant and pool area. Located in the up and coming area of Wat Bo on the east bank of the river, the hotel is just a short walk from the more traditional tourist haunt of Old Market. Angkor Wat is just a 20-minute tuk-tuk ride away, while the airport is a 20-minute drive.
Viroth’s has a total of 35 spacious rooms, full of signature mid-century styling and clean lines, with polished tiled flooring, teal, mustard and olive-hued furniture and accessories, as well as a witty selection of local curios and bric-a-brac. All rooms include a generous balcony, comfortable seating, flat-screen TVs, Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, fridge and minibar. The Deluxe rooms overlook the pool or the street and include either twin, triple or double beds, with a daybed that can be converted for an additional guest and bathrooms are shower only. Suites are spacious, with generous seating areas, showers and bathtubs and great views of the pool. The restaurant has both outdoor and indoor tables set within an air-conditioned, sound-proofed glass structure and serves well-prepared international classics, as well as seasonal Khmer dishes. The vintage-inspired bar oozes mid-century glamour and is a great place for snacks and a cocktail.
In keeping with the retro aesthetic, the hotel has a fleet of vintage limousines to whisk you to and from the airport. Guests will also enjoy the library and lounge area and for the health conscious, there is a fitness center and spa. But the hotel’s center piece is the wonderful palm-fringed 20-meter heated saltwater pool, complete with poolside restaurant and bar and a fantastic sundeck that was made for lounging. There is a no children under 12-policy, but the flexible sleeping arrangements would suit families with older children. Aside from that, we think Viroth’s Hotel will suit all those who appreciate its design appeal, looking for stylish accommodation in an increasingly fashionable area of Siem Reap.
