Tanzania is a large country, with a varied climate. Generally, the long rains run from March to May - the temperature is warm and the humidity is high. June to October is the long dry season, and the short rains are in November and December, much lighter than the long rains. January and February are again dry (the short dry season) so this is another good time to visit.
To start planning your holiday to Entamanu Ngorongoro
Entamanu Ngorongoro is a stylish and comfortable tented camp offering unrivalled views of both the Ngorongoro crater and Serengeti. An intimate and consciously constructed camp, Entamanu Ngorongoro is perched on the north western edge of the crater.
The most recent addition to Nomad Tanzania's collection of camps, Entamanu Ngorongoro opened in August 2016. Inspired by the crater, its name means "circle" in Maa (dialect of the Maasai people) and is a remarkable option on its periphery. Affording superlative views into the 3000ft deep crater and across the Serengeti, its off-the-beaten-track location is perfect for watching the sun rise and set over Northern Tanzania.
With only six luxury tents (two with options for families), the camp offers an outstanding setting and a completely removable structure meaning minimum impact on this unique location. However Entamanu Ngorongoro does not compromise on elegance and comfort (flushing loos, hot and cold running water and indoor heating).
A year round camp, Entamanu Ngorongoro is ideally located for game drives into the crater in search of the Big 5, guided walks through the surrounding highlands, interactions with neighbouring Maasai communities and relaxing bush picnics. Excellent and experienced guides are on hand to teach guests about this breath-taking landscape and its fantastic culture.
The camp is only 2 hours from Manyara Airstrip, driving distance from Arusha and would combine perfectly with other camps in the Serengeti and Tarangire National Parks.
There are six tents at Entamanu Ngorongoro, two of which are suitable for families. Each room has an en-suite bathroom with flushing toilet, running hot and cold water and indoor heating enabling the camp to be open year round.
Children over the age of eight are welcome at Entamanu Ngorongoro although for guided walks there is a minimum age of 12. There are no specific childcare facilities available at the camp.
During a stay, guests can enjoy game drives into the crater, guided walks, bush picnics, exploring the surrounding highlands and interacting with neighbouring Maasai communities.

This camp is fantastic for those looking to get into the crater as soon as possible each morning. Entamanu is as close as you can possibly get to the decent into the crater and is within the conservation area. The camp is special for several reasons but I must emphasise how fantastic the view from the main deck is, there is nothing better than a sun downer, drink in hand, looking out over the crater.
It is also worth mentioning the lovely warm lounge which allows you to avoid the winds of the crater rim whilst sat by a warm and toasty fireplace. The main lounge is perfect for a drink before dinner and then once you have had a delicious dinner you can head to your room where the comfiest beds I have ever slept in are waiting.

Having only opened in August, I was incredibly excited to see the new addition to Nomad Tanzania's collection of camps and it really did exceed expectations. We arrived just in time for sunset and were blown away by the views stretched out in front of us. A huge, roaring fire in the main area, gives those chilly evenings a really magical feel and we instantly felt completely at home.
