This enormous park was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1905 and upgraded to a national park in 1938, thanks to its unique ecosystem of lakes, grassland, jungle and forest. Wilpattu is home to over 30 species of mammal and you might be able to spot elephant, sloth bear, water buffalo, leopard, deer, mongoose and much more.
