An enchanting fusion of artisan craftsmanship, Rajasthani-inspired architecture and Moroccan furnishings, Malabar Hill is full of luxe bohemian charm. The service is flawless, and the pace is slow, making this a great option for a relaxing and rejuvenating break. Boasting magnificent views, the accommodation comprises 14 standalone villas, dotted along meandering garden paths and surrounded by leafy vegetation. Each villa sleeps up to two guests and in keeping with this peaceful setting, children must be over 12 years of age to stay here. Guests can choose from an ocean or wetlands sanctuary view.
These spacious private sanctuaries have polished concrete floors and floor-to-ceiling glass doors, opening onto a private terrace with infinity plunge pool. Inside, the villas are spacious and thoughtfully furnished with large comfortable beds, Indian carved furniture, ensuite bathroom with rain showers, organic toiletries, hairdryer and robes, air conditioning, ceiling fans, Wi-Fi, safe, complimentary glass bottled water, gourmet minibar and wine list, along with a selection of locally grown teas and French press coffee.
The resort’s Hill House Restaurant focuses on local, fresh, inventive, and environmentally friendly produce. Menus combine Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours with Sri Lanka’s sublime ingredients including artisan cheese, buffalo curd, and fish fresh from the Indian Ocean. Carved to resemble rose petals, the ornate wooden bar is the centrepiece of the resort, with both jungle and ocean views, it’s a lovely spot for socialising or relaxing with a quiet drink. Guests can also dine or enjoy a drink on the Terrace with includes a warming firepit and open-sided dining room.
Along with each villa’s private plunge pool, guests can relax around the 35m infinity pool, lined with four poster daybeds. Or for the ultimate in pampering, the Spa offers world class treatments. The resort also has a library, lawn games and a leisure concierge to organise and enrich your visit. The gardens are a feature of the hotel, and the blending of indoor/outdoor space has been expertly thought through. The area is known for its biodiversity and mongoose, monkeys, and rare Malabar Hornbills have all been frequent visitors to the grounds. In the quest for sustainable tourism, the hotel uses solar power to heat its water. Rainwater is used for irrigation and Malabar Hill also has its own waste-water treatment plant. Energy saving LED lighting is used throughout the property and electric tuk tuks are used to transport guests around the grounds. Guest water bottles and bath products are all refillable.
