Location
The Hotel Neri is ideally situated down a tiny pedestrianised side street in the Gothic Quarter, between the Plaza de la Catedral and the Plaza Sant Jaume and just 10-minutes from Plaza Cataluña and Paseo de Gracia.
Hotel Neri is a charming boutique hotel nestled on a side street in the magical Gothic quarter of Barcelona. This renovated 12th century palace has retained original features and is perfect for those seeking history in typically modern Barcelona.
Highlights
The Hotel Neri is hidden away on a pedestrian side street of the Gothic Quarter
This tiny boutique hotel sports the prestigious Relais & Chateaux endorsement
The hotel's terrace backs on to the quaint Sant Felip Neri square
Recline in a lounger or hammock on the roof with a sangria in hand
Hotel Neri is the perfect example of marrying a hotel with an historical building while still maintaining the charm and integrity of the structure. Thus the feeling of being at the heart of the Gothic quarter in what was once the Jewish district is ever present and the uncovering of a Roman site under the hotel, complete with Phoenician ceramics is a key part of the hotel's evolution.
This Relais & Chateaux member boasts just 22 rooms and yet houses a gastronomic restaurant famed for its avant-garde Spanish cuisine. The rooftop terrace is not unusual in Barcelona's many hotels but Hotel Neri's take on an urban garden is truly special. Loungers and hammocks are strewn amongst the foliage and you can expect complete quiet as the hotel is located in a pedestrianised part of the old town.
The design for the rooms and communal spaces is playful and bright with modern art and furniture (the velvet knotted sofa designed by the Campana brother is something to behold) while the historic library is more rustic, with guide books aplenty to feed the imagination for a day of exploring. All in all, Hotel Neri is a real gem, perfect for exploring all that Barcelona has to offer.
When to visit
The chandelier in the main lobby was designed by a local artist, specifically for the hotel.
