To start planning your holiday to Gondwana Family Lodge

Sanbona boasts 54,000 hectares of undulating mountains and plains, indigenous flora and fauna, rock formations and rock art. This non-malarial Big 5 game reserve is in a spectacular Karoo location, the lodges here offer something for everyone.

Gondwana Lodge enjoys endless sweeping views over the plains of Bellair Dam and onto the Anysberg Mountains. This family friendly lodge lies at the heart of the non-malarial Sanbona, the largest private safari reserve in the Western Cape.

Children of all ages are encouraged to visit Gondwana Lodge to experience their first safari. The fantastic 'Kids on Safari' program keeps the whole family entertained with interpretive trails, and interactive activities. Professional childcare is available for children under the age of 4 years old as they are too young to join the game drives, the focus for them will be on activities at the lodge and on the lawns surrounding the main building.

The lodge is designed to resemble a typical thatched Karoo homestead. There are family rooms, children's activity rooms, large spacious lawns and a wonderful swimming pool overlooking the plains. There are both indoor and outdoor dining areas, a comfortable indoor lounge which has been decorated with beautiful African accessories, as well as a fantastic spa and gift shop.

Each room has either an outdoor patio or balcony with huge squashy cushions for you to relax on with a book after the early morning starts on safari. The rooms have air-conditioning, a mini bar and tea and coffee making facilities. For dinner you will either eat a la carte or have a traditional South Africa Braai – a Bbq, so during your stay you will be able to experience a range of different dining experiences.

Sanbona is a true Big 5 game reserve, lion, leopard, rhino, elephant an buffalo are all found on the reserve. The range of habitat is also home to a wide variety of other African wildlife, this diversity gives visitors a fantastically rich safari experience in a beautiful, remote location.
