It's a short drive from Cuzco to Lamay to meet the horses and wranglers to begin a truly fantastic day riding up the side of the Sacred Valley. Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch en route to the amazing Inca city of Huchuy Qosqo, and return to your waiting vehicle to take you back to Cuzco or your hotel in the Sacred Valley.

The horses are special mountain breeds descended from Spanish Barbs brought from Spain in the 1500s. Crossed with the comfortable but less sure-footed Paso breed, these mountain horses give a strong, comfortable ride with greater endurance and reliability needed for steep Inca trails. The tack consists of comfortable padded, American-style saddles based on US cavalry design, with locally made and traditional Peruvian stirrups and reins. We provide large water-proof saddle bags for all riders. Please note that this experience is not recommended for those who have a fear of heights. Extensive riding experience is not a prerequisite but due to the steep rugged terrain, prior horseback riding experience is recommended.
