Opportunity to scuba dive amongst some of the most pristine underwater environments in the world
Straddling the equator, Indonesia tends to have a fairly even climate year-round. Rather than four seasons, Indonesia has two – wet and dry – and there are no extremes of temperature between winter and summer. Given the different climates throughout the archipelago, the vessel is able to operate different expeditions at different times of year. Between December and March, the Alila Purnama operates expeditions to explore the magical waters of Raja Ampat, and from April to November, the expedition changes course for the mythical island of Komodo.
Reminiscent of the old trading ships that once cruised the spice routes of the Indonesian islands, Ananda is a luxury Phinisi yacht that sails the tropical waters of Komodo and the lesser Sunda Islands in style.
Three air-conditioned cabins provide a welcome relief from the sunny top deck, each with a queen-sized bed and en-suite bathroom. Colourful traditional fabrics, skylights and portholes create a bright, light space to relax as you sail the tropical seas.
The vessel’s upper deck is equipped with comfortable sofas for lounging, a shaded dining area and a Bluetooth sound system. The chef serves up three delicious, freshly prepared meals a day, using locally caught seafood and seasonal fruit and vegetables, whilst the bar is the perfect place for a sundowner.
The Ananda has a dedicated dive master and a host of the latest dive equipment, allowing guests to scuba dive straight from the dive deck at the stern of the boat. The aluminium tender makes shore excursions to explore the deserted beaches, local villages and encounter the fearsome Komodo dragons comfortable and seamless. Kayaks, waters-skiing and snorkel trips are also available, depending on the itinerary.
The Ananda sails the waters of the Indonesian archipelago, from the famed island of Komodo with its might dragons and the pristine beaches and volcanoes of Flores, to the sleepy local villages and spectacular underwater world of the Wakatobi Marine National Park in south east Sulawesi.
