Asilia have three houses in the Mara North Conservation area and Mara House is one of these. It is a relaxed, private house, situated in a remote part of the Maasai Mara Conservation area surrounded by exceptional wildlife and stunning views. Mara House has three large en-suite bedrooms and a large but cosy sitting room. It shares a swimming pool with Acacia House next door and lunch is often served by the pool. Mara House works fantastically for a family or group.
The front of the house has a spacious lounge and dining area, although meals are often served alfresco, under the shade of a tree in the daytime and under the stars surrounded by candles and lanterns by night. There is a lovely verandah where you can relax and enjoy views down to the waterhole, and this is often where you'll while away the hours when not out on safari.
Mara House comes fully staffed, including a chef, house manager and private safari guide. Activities include game drives, either by daylight or by spotlight to catch a glimpse of those elusive nocturnal species. Walking safaris with an armed scout are also available as well as visits to the Maasai villages nearby. As you are the only guests here, you have total flexibility on the duration of your game viewing and what you wish to do each day.
Asilia actively challenges the historical way of delivering cultural tourism. All the guides are exclusively Masai or Il Dorobo and all employees are encouraged to retain and practice the traditional Maasai values such as traditional dress.
