The small Greek island of Mykonos makes up part of the Cyclades Island group. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, stunning architecture, and captivating landscapes, Mykonos offers the perfect island getaway. However away from the busier beach clubs, you'll find pristine sands, secluded coves and hidden bays waiting to be explored.
Mykonos is not only visually stunning but also steeped in history and cultural heritage. The island has a fascinating past, influenced by ancient civilisations such as the Greeks, Romans and Byzantines. Things to do in Mykonos
From beach hopping on a private yacht to intimate cooking classes and ancient ruins, here are the best things to do on a luxury holiday in Mykonos.
-
Visit Delos & Rineia
While mainland Greece is often lauded for its ruins, the islands also boast a number of archaeological sites. Near Mykonos, find Delos, the said birthplace of the gods Apollo and Artemis. This large archaeological site encompasses ancient temples, private houses, an amphitheatre and more.
Enjoy our exclusive experience where you set sail on a private boat to the island, taking in the vibrant Aegean Sea before exploring. Then continue on to Delos’s little sister Rineia for more ancient wonders, stopping at one of its many beaches for swimming and snorkelling – taking a break from the crowds in Mykonos Town.
-
Enjoy Beach Holidays in Mykonos
For relaxation, Mykonos offers an array of beautiful beaches where you can unwind and soak up the sun. Psarou Beach is a top choice, known for its crystal-clear waters and luxurious beach clubs. Alternatively, Agios Ioannis Beach provides a more tranquil atmosphere with its secluded coves and picturesque views.
If you're a water sports enthusiast, Mykonos won't disappoint. Paradise Beach is a hotspot for thrill-seekers, offering activities such as jet skiing, windsurfing, and banana boat rides. Super Paradise Beach is another popular spot, known for its lively beach clubs and opportunities for scuba diving and snorkelling.
Our favourite way to explore the beaches is to go beach hopping on a private yacht, seeing all the hot spots as well as private beaches, like Dragonisi, which is only accessible by boat.

Private Tours of the Town
To make the most of your Mykonos holiday, a private tour is a must. Whether of the island, walking or by car, or cruising around nearby islands on a yacht, it’s the ideal way to sink your feet into the rugged, historical landscape.
A tour of Mykonos Town is perfect for first-time visitors. Visit the blue-domed churches and windmills before hopping in a car to explore the smaller quaint towns just a few kilometres out. Here you’ll visit traditional squares and monasteries, then end the day on the beach.
For those seeking outdoor adventures, Mykonos offers a variety of activities to satisfy your adventurous spirit. Set sail on a private yacht and explore the hidden gems of the Aegean Sea or embark on a diving expedition to discover the rich marine life beneath the waves. If hiking is more your style, take a scenic hike along the coastline and enjoy breathtaking views of the island.

Mykonos Island Hopping Holidays
An island-hopping tailor-made tour of Greece puts you front and centre of Greece’s culture and all its gorgeous variants and nuances, creating an authentic picture of this remarkable country.
From Mykonos, leave the port and head to Naxos, a historic island with 13th-century castles, cobblestoned alleyways and Venetian mansions. Tour its famous beaches alongside its historic monuments. You can even spend a night or two here at one of its luxury hotels.
Carry on to Koufonisia, an island part of the Small Cyclades with a lively scene of hotels, restaurants, bars and landmarks. For a more remote off-the-beaten-track adventure, head on to Koufonissi where everything is done on foot or by bike.

FAQ’s about Mykonos Holidays
-
When it comes to where to stay during your Mykonos holiday, the best options are to either stay in Mykonos Town or along the coast at one of the beach resorts.
If it’s your first time in Mykonos, you’ll want to stay at least a night or two in Mykonos Town. It’s the heart of the island where you’ll find the hustle and bustle of shops, jazz bars and high-end restaurants. Wander through the tiny cobblestone alleyways struck with gorgeous blue details.
If you’ve been to Mykonos before, or want to avoid the crowds of Mykonos Town, opt for a stay along the beach. While some beaches still have a buzz, like Psarou Beach or Ornos Bay, there are also quieter private beaches, like the Santa Marina Luxury Hotel Collection which is only a 20-minute drive from Mykonos Town.
-
The best time to visit Mykonos is during the shoulder seasons, so either April to May or September to October.
During the summer months, June through August, tourism is at its peak in Greece, along with its temperatures.
September and October allow you to relish the sunny heat as it dwindles down to more comfortable temperatures, while still balmy enough for languid beach days.
In the winter, the islands shut down and there’s very little to do here.
-
There are several beaches in Mykonos.
Psarou Beach is renowned for its clear waters and attractive vibe, where many arrive by private yacht. A trendy popular beach that’s well-suited for fun beach days, Ornos Bay is always a great location, especially for families. Other popular beaches include:
- Paranga
- Paradise
- Super Paradise
- Agrari
- Elia
- Kalo Livadi
- Agia Anna
- Kalafatis
- Lia
- Fragia
