Rio southern beaches and SUP
Explore Prainha which means 'little beach' in Portuguese and is a popular spot for the city's surfers, which you will likely find chilling out on the white sands or out catching waves. Open air beach restaurants and grills line the shore and provide a welcome refreshment before moving on to Grumari beach which is a protected area and not very well-known amongst the tourist crowd.
From here, stop at Barra de Guaratiba where you can get stuck into some stand-up paddleboarding amongst the mangroves of this natural marine reserve. The water here is calm so suitable for beginners and those with more experience, and a short class can be provided for those who need a refresher or more instruction.
Pick up your energy with an optional lunch at a local seafood grill which boasts spectacular views out over the whole marine reserve and serves up the freshest seafood, flavoured with mouthwatering South American spices.
