Description
High amongst the orchid beds and the cloud forests of the Cocachimba Valley of northern Peru lies Gocta Natura, a collection of five eco-friendly cabins with views across to the towering Gocta Falls and the perfect place from which to hike to the base.
All your meals are included in your stay and are served up in the main lodge, outside wherever possible. Meals are humble and hearty, with delicious fresh breakfasts and home-cooked fare showcasing as much local and seasonal produce as possible. The lounge houses a working fire for the cooler evenings, perfect for relaxing or sharing stories of your adventures in the forest with your fellow guests. An honesty bar is available to supplement meals.
The falls themselves can be reached on a two-hour trek from the lodge, with horses available to hire if you’d prefer to rest your weary muscles. Trekking through the stunning cloud forest ecosystem is an experience in itself, discovering an array of flora and fauna on the way. Your hosts can also arrange an array of activities that support the local community, from visits to the sugarcane plantations and spending a morning with a local weaver, to harvesting the freshest local fruits and vegetables and then learning how to prepare delicious local cuisine.
