Lunch at the Lighthouse
Quirimbas and the north coast, Mozambique
A picnic lunch at the Lighthouse at Vamizi is an absolute must during your stay.
The Lighthouse trip is best appreciated if you walk there through the island. You can point out monkeys and birds en route until you reach this stunning spot on the northern tip of the island. The walk can take about an hour, so if it is desperately hot, perhaps the drive might be easier!
A completely deserted pristine white sand beach and that dazzling turquoise sea will greet you, next to a beautiful old Lighthouse. There is not a soul in sight and you will literally have to pinch yourself that this is your own beach for the next few hours. Your guide will leave you to yourselves with only a question on departure ''What time would you like me to pick you up?'', you will want to say ''never!''.
On the beach is a small shelter with lovely squashy cushions and a table beautifully laid up with the best linen and glassware. An enormous cool box laden with your favourite drinks (previously requested!) and a groaning plate of delicious fresh seafood will keep you suitably satisfied!
It really is a magical experience, where you appreciate the exclusivity of the moment. Honestly one of the best lunches I have ever had!
