The climate in Greece is warm and sunny for the majority of the year with the risk of the odd shower of rain and some cooler periods over the winter. From April/May onwards the weather settles but it can sometimes be cool in the evenings. By mid/end of May, the weather generally settles in a pattern of long hot sunny days and balmy evenings especially in July and August when it can be very hot. Rain is unlikely but it can happen from time to time. May to October are particularly pleasurable months.

Only 45mins drive from Athens, Cape Sounio is the perfect beach retreat within reach of all the sights of Athens and surrounding area, giving you the best of both worlds!
Most of the bungalows and villas have stunning sea views and across to the temple of Poseidon, with many boasting their own little pools if you didnt fancy relaxing by the partially salt water main pool. There are a couple of tunnels which take you under the small coastal road down to the two beaches which are perfect for a calm dip and especially good for young children as the clear water gently shelves. They also have the perfectly placed Yali (glass) waterfront restaurant where you can dine al fresco listening to the water lapping along the beach. Children will really enjoy the Grecoland area with their own little pool, playground and large rock climbing wall!
It is worth bearing in mind that it may feel busier over weekends in high season with guests visiting from Athens.

Cape Sounio is a brilliant, very Greek hotel. The private bungalows which are spread out across the resort really give you a feel of privacy and space.
The three choices of restaurants (Asian, buffet and a la carte) give a really good range of dishes, particularly as there isn't really anywhere else close by to eat out in the evenings.
It is located just 45 minutes drive away from Athens, so you could easily do a day trip to explore the city and then return to the relaxed beach - the best of both worlds!
The view of the Temple of Poseidon is pretty magical and worth a visit up there for approximately 5 Euros each.

Being only an hour from Athens Cape Sounio works well either in a combined itinerary or as a destination in itself. Lots of the rooms have their own pools and the children's entertainment programme is fantastic. They do all kinds of activities all around the hotel and on the beach. You can see the Temple of Poseidon from all around the hotel so why not take a walk in the cool of the day up there and polish up on your history!
