Itinerary

Get under the skin of Croatia and Slovenia as you explore bustling cities, scenic countryside and spectacular coastlines. From the breathtaking lakes of Slovenia to the enchanting streets of Dubrovnik, discover the very best that these captivating countries have to offer.

  1. Fly to Ljubljana

  2. Days 1-4: Ljubljana

Start your adventure in Slovenia, central Europe’s hidden gem, bordered by Croatia, Italy, Austria and Hungary. Spend three nights in the capital, Ljubljana, where strong influences from its neighbours can be found in the city’s architecture, cuisine and culture. Explore the city with your private guide, admiring the charming streets of the old town and taking in the beautiful views from Ljubljana Castle. Take to the water and cruise along the Ljubljanica River, enjoying the city’s buzzing atmosphere from a new perspective.

The following day you’ll visit Slovenia’s most iconic landmark, the beautiful Lake Bled. Walk around the lake with your private guide and marvel at the emerald green waters surrounded by the snow-capped peaks of the Julian Alps. Visit Bled Castle and enjoy the stunning views across the lake before rowing across the water to Bled’s picturesque island, home to a tiny church.

    Accommodation: Hotel Cubo (3 nights)

  3. Days 4-6: Istria

Leaving Ljubljana behind, visit one of Slovenia’s most unique sights, Predjama Castle, built into the mouth of a cave. Explore this dramatic castle, which dates back to the 12th century, before descending underground to discover the impressive Postojna Caves. This extensive cave system is home to spectacular stalactites and stalagmites, and has been welcoming visitors for 200 years. Resurface and continue south to Croatia, where the enchanting region of Istria awaits.

Discover charming Rovinj, a fishing town boasting winding cobbled streets and beautiful Venetian-influenced architecture. Explore the historical old town and the picturesque coastline, home to an archipelago of quiet islands. Join your private guide to venture inland and visit Istria’s quaint hilltop towns, such as Motovun, and depending on the season, hunt for delicious truffles.

    Accommodation: Hotel Lone (2 nights)

  4. Days 6-9: Split

Continue south to Split, where you’ll have the chance to learn about Croatia’s fascinating history. Explore the city with your private guide, wandering the cobbled streets that once made up the palace of Roman Emperor Diocletian. Admire the ancient architecture in Peristil Square and St Domnius Cathedral, and soak up the atmosphere of the charming Riva waterfront, home to many of Split’s bars and restaurants.

Spend a day out of the city, exploring one of Croatia’s most visited islands, Hvar. Known for its nightlife, this picturesque island also boasts beautiful scenery. With your private guide, discover bustling Hvar Town before venturing into the countryside and visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Stari Grad Plain.

Accommodation: Hotel Vestibul Palace (3 nights)

  5. Days 9-11: Dubrovnik

Next, you’ll head for Dubrovnik, visiting the charming town of Omis on the way. Nestled at the mouth of the Cetina River Canyon, this enchanting town was once home to pirates but is now the tranquil gateway to the emerald green waters of the river. Continue your journey south to Ston, where you’ll have the chance to taste the freshest Croatian oysters, straight from the sea, before finally reaching Dubrovnik.

Join your private guide to learn about the intriguing history of Dubrovnik and its bright, beautiful streets. Dubrovnik’s magnificent architecture still bears the scars of the civil war in 1991, however its Baroque buildings and ancient stone houses have been restored to give the city the pearl-like appearance it’s renowned for. After exploring the city streets, take the cable car to the top of Mount Srd and enjoy the spectacular views across the terracotta rooftops and the glistening Adriatic Sea to the islands beyond.
