Estancia Rincon Chico is an intimate and secluded property set on a working farm in the Peninsula Valdes. The farmhouse is run by a family and offers 8 comfortable en suite bedrooms and a homely drawing room and dining room perfect for relaxing.
Staying at Estancia Rincon Chico is a unique experience in many ways. Inspired by 19th Century English architecture, the guesthouse features a traditional Patagonian ranch style, with a surrounding gallery and large front deck. Only 30 meters away from the main house is the family heirloom: one of the first houses in the property shipped directly from England in 1897 by the family's first settlers in the area.
Its unmatched location also makes Rincon Chico a true paradise for nature lovers. With 15 Km of beaches, it is the only continental site in the world that enjoys the visit of thousands of Southern Elephant Seals all year round. You can observe these majestic creatures during walks along the beach or from the height of the sweeping cliffs. Although harder to predict, another show not to miss are resident orcas which intentionally beach on the shore to hunt.
Rincon Chico is also highly focused on environmental conservation while guaranteeing basic comfort to all guests. Wind and solar energy provide electricity during daylight hours, there is a rainwater harvesting system and detailed waste management system. Also, the Estancia's staff and guides guarantee a minimum impact to the delicate ecosystem.
There are 8 rooms with private bathrooms which can be arranged as double or twin rooms at request. The guesthouse has 12 Volts electricity throughout the day generated by wind power. A 220 volts power generator feeds all rooms during the night hours. It also provides power for satellite Internet and WiFi.
Children are welcome at the hotel, and babysitting can be arranged upon request, but there are no specific facilities or interconnecting rooms.
All meals are provided in the dining room. There is a buffet-style continental breakfast and afternoon tea with coffee, tea and a selection of pastries. Lunch and dinner are set menus and drinks are not included. Each fixed menu is presented in advance for guests' consideration in order to make adjustments for any food allergies, and any cultural or lifestyle preferences.
There is a variety of wildlife watching tours around the property beaches, guided by professional biologists and naturalists, at your disposal to observe the rich flora and fauna in the area. This includes 120 species of birds, Maras, rheas, guanacos, gray foxes, skunks, armadillos, wild cats and Patagonian ferrets.
Other activities in the estancia include horseback riding across the steppe and cliffs, hiking trails of varying length and difficulty, mountain biking, visits to the livestock facilities (and participation in activities if it matches the date), astronomical interpretation talks and walks to the nearby dunes.
Activities outside the estancia are also available. These include whale watching (July to December) and dolphin watching (during the summer) tours, visits to Magellanic penguin colonies found along the Peninsula, snorkelling and scuba diving with sea lions, kayaking and exploring the scenic views from Valdés cliffs.
All activities (guided and self-guided) in the estancia are included, while additional activities can be arranged for a supplement.
