Lima’s weather is very temperate due to its proximity to the equator. Winters in Lima can be quite grey as a result of the humid climate. Through most of winter Lima is covered in a layer of clouds and a light drizzle, or ‘garúa’; average temperatures are around 15°C. The summer months of December to March tend to be sunny and temperatures average around 22°C, though they can go as high as 27°C.

Hotel B is a luxurious boutique hotel in the bohemian art district of Barranco, in Peru's lively capital. This wonderfully restored colonial mansion provides the perfect base to immerse oneself in Lima's thriving art and culinary scenes.
Originally built in the style of the Belle Epoque, by French architect Claude Sahut, the mansion served as a seaside retreat during the presidency of Augusto Leguia in the 1920s. The mansion has since been lovingly restored and brought back to life as a stunning luxury boutique hotel maintaining a classic colonial design. It is a far cry from the high rise hotels that poke through Lima's skyline in neighbouring Miraflores and San Isidro providing guests with a new type of hotel experience in the capital.
Each of Hotel B’s 20 guests rooms are unique and elegantly designed with private terraces, patios, and foyers. Many rooms have high ceilings and exposed wood beams that add to the charm and history of this distinguished hotel. Some of the rooms are located in an annexe building and all equipped with modern comforts. A highlight is the roof-top lounge serving excellent evening cocktails and views over the roof-tops to the Pacific Ocean. Dine at Hotel B’s signature restaurant featuring Peruvian-Mediterranean cuisine by celebrated chef, Oscar Velarde.
Hotel B is located right next door to Lucia de la Puente Gallery, one of Lima's most acclaimed arts houses, with which it shares an artistic vision. Lucia de la Puente Gallery will be open for the hotel's guests for private viewings. To top it off, Hotel B boasts its own collection of contemporary and traditional Peruvian and Latin American art which will be displayed throughout the historic mansion.
Hotel B's guest rooms are very comfortable, spacious and traditionally furnished. Hotel B is where art gallery and luxury accommodation collide. The owners of this hotel have preserved the beauty of the building by restoring the inside and keeping as much of the original interior as they could. Staying here feels like a step back into 19th century Lima. Hotel B encompasses what a luxury boutique hotel is. You will not find a similar property like it!

What I loved about this hotel was the attention to detail applied when they undertook the renovation. It took 3 years to craft this wonderful place, filling it with over 250 pieces of art by local artists. It's an eclectic quirky mix of styles, yet it all works really well together to showcase some of the best local talent. The other thing I loved were the beds. I had the best nights sleep of my entire trip here, it was like sleeping on a cloud! You're also just down the street from Parque Central with its colonial buildings, lots of restaurants, bars and museums in your doorstep, including MATE- the musuem of photographer to the stars Mario Testino.

Hotel B is the first of its kind in Lima - a stylish, upmarket boutique hotel with real character. No two rooms are identical and some of the Alcoba rooms are quite compact so if you're looking for something more spacious I'd recommend one of the Aposento or Atelier rooms. The rooms are designed in an elegant style, and feature the most modern of amenities alongside many carefully placed vintage features.
The hotel's restaurant and bar can be particularly popular at the weekends, creating a fun buzz although it does make for a less peaceful atmosphere.
The bohemian area of Barranco is really up and coming and has plenty to offer visitors, including the Mario Testino MATE museum of photography, the Pedro de Osma museum, with one of the finest collections of paintings in Peru, and some great restaurants and bars.
