Diving the Poor Knights Islands - Shared

A total Marine Reserve and Nature Reserve, the 11 million year old Islands’ volcanic origins provide myriad spectacular drop offs, walls, caves, arches and tunnels. Above and below water, the Islands are abundantly populated with unique and incredibly varied plant, animal and fish life. Laying claim to an astounding Maori history and the world’s largest sea cave (and only living dinosaur and largest insect) the remarkable Poor Knights thoroughly deserve their protected status.

Dive Tutukaka will take utmost care of you throughout your dive day, and when you’re not diving, relax topside and make use of the hot showers and comfortable facilities and all their dive boats cater for non-divers; take command of a kayak, or don mask and snorkel, and find a whole other way to discover the Islands…

Whatever your activity, there is plentiful hot coffee, tea, soup or Milo (hot chocolate) waiting your return. After your first dive, they will get everyone back on board for lunch, then go for a tour around some of the special spots of the Poor Knights. Generally there will be 1.5 hours between the dives, giving opportunity for other activities or simply relaxing and socialising between dives. You will find your crew very knowledgeable and willing to assist with any questions you might have.
