There is a great deal to see in the center of Munich, and Scott Dunn can organize a tour which suits your interests, whatever they may be. The most famous square of the city center is Marienplatz: it is famous for the regular glockenspiel performance of the clock set into the facade of the town hall, which at 11 every day tells the story of the wedding of the local Duke Wilhelm V (who also founded the world famous Hofbräuhaus) to Renata of Lorraine, and of the traditional Bavarian Coopers' Dance.

Close by is the e Viktualienmarkt, the most popular market of Munich, and an ideal place to stop for a bratwurst and a beer! The most famous building in the city is the nearby Cathedral, known as the Frauenkirche.

There is a magnificent royal palace in the center of the city called the 'Residenz': begun in 1835, it's Germany's largest urban palace, and well worth a look, especially as it is so close to the magnificent boulevards and avenues which were built in the 19th century to connect the city center with its then-suburbs.
