This morning you will ascend almost 300m to Pelion Gap a plateau stretching between Mt Pelion East and My Ossa.
Pass through abundant rainforest before reaching the plateau and being rewarded with uninterrupted views to the south coast and northbound cross the plains.
From here opt to include a side trip to the summit of Mt Ossa, Tasmania’s highest peak. At 1617m this ascent is not for the faint hearted but less challenging climbs including Mt Doris are also accessible from here.
After lunch it’s a gentle two-hour descent to Kia Ora Hut and your resting place for the night.
