Winters are mild, summers are scorching, autumn is wet, and spring is dry and pleasant. The cities of Chengdu is famed for its fog, with the weather often likened to a damp day in London. The mountainous gorges and forested plains along the Yangtze River make autumn and spring the prime time for a Yangtze Cruise, with clear skies and pleasant temperatures making ideal sightseeing weather. Winter can be spectacular, despite the cold, when the water level is lower in the Three Gorges and the soaring cliffs even more dramatic.

Chengdu is the vibrant capital city of the Sichuan ('Four Rivers') Province and the Shangri La is located in the city center with fantastic views of the Jinjiang River. A visit to Chengdu is a must if you would like to visit the nearby panda sanctuary.

Chengdu is one of the wealthiest cities in China as well as being one of the most important cities in terms of transport links and communication hubs. The city is also near one of the last wild refuges of the legendary pandas. Chengdu is a modern and affluent city as well as being rich in history.

Located just 25 minutes from Shuangliu Airport, the luxurious Shangri - La hotel has 593 guest rooms and suites and there are also 26 serviced apartments. All the rooms are very spacious with large sized bathrooms and the hotel offers a lovely luxurious environment for a stay in Chengdu.

There are 593 spacious guest rooms and suites as well as 26 serviced apartments. The Superior and Deluxe rooms are comfortable with a contemporary décor and views of the elegant city center of Chengdu. The Executive River View Room have the same contemporary and relaxing style as well as wonderful views of the Jinjiang River. There are five different suites and each vary with their layout. They have a separate living area and some have a kitchenette too. All the suites are extremely spacious and each provide the ultimate luxury for a stay in Chengdu.


Children of all ages are welcome to come and stay at the Shangri-La Chengdu and baby sitting can be arranged if required.


Shangri-La Chengdu has some excellent dining options including the Shang Palace which serves authentic Cantonese and Sichuanese dishes. Cafe Z has a range of different food from South America, the Middle East, Asia and China. There is also Mooney's and the Lobby Lounge for some different venues for drinks.


There is a fantastic spa a the Shangri - La in Chengdu. Chi, The Spa at Shangri - La is inspired by Asian healing philosophies and the ethos of the spa is to restore balance and harmony with all treatments working towards this aim. There are 11 private spa suites in the spa that also include herbal steam facilities. There is a varied spa menu with a number of different massages and treatments to chose from.
