Average time to visit
Although the weather is pleasant most of the year, because of its elevated position Madrid can experience extreme and rapidly changing conditions. The best times to visit are spring, early summer and autumn as the temperatures are pleasant and the city not overly crowded. The Madrileños tend to leave the city during the high summer heat of late-July to August. Over winter, visitors can expect clear days with low temperatures and occasional snow.
To start planning your holiday to Gran Hotel Ingles
Originally opened in 1886, the Gran Hotel Ingles is the oldest hotel in Madrid. Boasting a contemporary Art Deco style, this boutique hotel is located in the heart of the city and makes a luxurious retreat from the hustle and bustle of Madrid.
Dating back to the 19th century, the Gran Hotel Ingles combines the elegance of its past with contemporary style and modern amenities. Following a complete refurbishment, today the Gran Hotel Ingles offers high-end luxury paired with character through its Art Deco glamour.
The first hotel in Madrid to provide electric light and a restaurant, the Gran Hotel Ingles now boasts 48 elegant rooms harking back to the 1920s. Neutral colours and gold tones ensure rooms feel bright and airy, while the fabric and armchairs designed by David Rockwell provide the utmost in comfort.
The restaurant at Gran Hotel Ingles, Lobo 8, offers diners a creative menu of Spanish cuisine, based on traditional sharing dishes. Lobo 8 puts a contemporary twist on the sherry taverns, or tabancos, of Andalucia and incorporates produce from Madrid and the south. LobByto, the hotel bar, also serves a selection of traditional tapas alongside its elegant cocktails.
Egoiste Spa, the boutique wellness centre at Gran Hotel Ingles, offers guests the chance to unwind after a busy day exploring Madrid. Relax with a rejuvenating therapy in one of the two treatment rooms or rest weary muscles in the Jacuzzi. Those looking to keep active during their stay can also make full use of the Gran Hotel Ingles's fitness centre.
The 48 rooms and suites at Gran Hotel Ingles are decorated in an elegant Art Deco style, combining neutral colours and luxurious hardwood floors. Rooms offer views over the peaceful inner courtyard or Calle Echegray, some offering small balconies from which to enjoy the view. All bathrooms have walk-in showers while the majority of rooms also offer free-standing bathtubs, which are, in some cases, located outside of the bathroom.
Children of all ages are welcome at Gran Hotel Ingles, however there are no specific childcare facilities.
Lobo 8 serves a Spanish menu with a twist, giving a contemporary feel to traditional dishes, taking inspiration from sharing plates of Madrid and Andalucia. For pre-dinner drinks or a light snack, LobByto bar offers delicious tapas alongside its fantastic cocktail menu.
Thanks to its location in the heart of Madrid, Gran Hotel Ingles is within easy reach of many of the city's main sights. A 10-minute walk from the Prado Museum, the Gran Hotel Ingles makes an ideal base from which to explore the cultural highlights of Madrid.
