With such a vast wilderness to explore, the best way to see as much as possible is on game drives in the open sided canopied safari vehicles. The game drives are tailored to your interests with keen expert rangers and trackers ready to answer any questions and teach you more about the Kalahari’s impressive ecology.

Guided bush walks are an excellent means of seeing more of the land, especially the smaller animals which are often overlooked or harder to find. Learn about the properties of the diverse plants, spot meerkat enjoying the warmth of the sun, or try and find an aardvark in the dark of the night with your knowledgeable guide leading the way.

If that was not up close and personal enough to nature, then meet the resident meerkat colonies for an incredible close range encounter with these interesting little characters.

Saddle up and survey the Kalahari from a different perspective on a horseback safari at Tswalu Kalahari Reserve. Walk through the plains and dunes, and experience safari just as the early explorers would have. Suitable for all riders of all levels of experience, horseback safaris are a fantastic alternative to game drives, and are a unique family activity as children are also welcome. The wildlife reacts differently to your arrival on horseback, compared to travelling by vehicle, so you will have the opportunity to get close to an array of stunning animals. Feel at one with nature as you enjoy one of the most magical rides of your life.

The Malori is Tswalu’s sleep out platform. Set around five miles from the main lodge it’s a great option for anyone wishing to experience the nocturnal sounds of the bush at close quarters. The Malori is comfortably appointed and there’s a thatched section to provide shelter if required. Dinner is prepared while guests enjoy a sun-downer after which you retire to the platform under the amazing Kalahari sky. The following morning, you can drive, ride or walk back to the main lodge. Additional cost applies for The Malori.

Other amazing activities include star gazing under the Kalahari’s impressive diamond stars, or visiting extraordinary archaeological sites in the Korannaberg Hills.

For an additional cost, guests are able to indulge in a variety of treatments at the Tswalu Kalahari Spa, or maybe even try out the Tswalu Heli Experience, taking it to various corners of the reserve or for private helicopter flips.
