Privately Guided Routeburn Track

Travelling towards Glenorchy, the road clings to the edge of the lake, rising up at points offering postcard-worthy panoramas of snow-capped mountains, alpine farmland, rolling hills and vast swathes of tussock meadows. Beginning with a gradual climb through the atmospheric 130 million year old wonderland of lichen, moss, ferns and beech forest, this staggeringly picturesque walk through Mount Aspiring National Park takes you along old Maori paths as your guide introduces you to the history of the region. Stop for lunch surrounded by alpine meadows, gurgling streams and majestic white-peaked mountains before continuing along old Greenstone trails, with the calls of native birds for company.
We would recommend bringing a small backpack, comfortable footwear, sunglasses, a hat, insect repellent, a camera, sunscreen and a warm outer layer throughout the year, as well as thermals, warm hat, gloves and waterproof jacket in the winter months. The weather in this area is changeable.
