Explore local culture and cuisine with a very special Inle Lake cooking class at the atmospheric Inthar Heritage House. Run by a local family, the Heritage House prides itself on retaining the local Intha culture belonging to the lake’s indigenous people. As well as an organic garden there is a vocational training centre, restaurant and more than a few rare Burmese cats to meet.
A private boat ride to the southern corner of the lake takes you there then it’s time to start cooking. After sourcing your fresh vegetables and herbs from the garden, and learning about traditional farming methods, a world away from our farming practices and supermarkets back home, it’s time to cook.
Using cherished family recipes you will prepare typical Intha dishes using traditional local techniques while finding out from the team about what role the lake plays in everyday life. A truly unique experience.
