Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

The main tourist season is in January and February, when the weather is hottest and driest. At this time, the animals in the wildlife parks tend to congregate more around the watercourses, making them easier to spot.

Northern and eastern Kenya temperatures vary from highs of up to 40°C during the day to less than 20°C at night. Rainfall in this area is sparse and, when it does occur, is often in the form of violent storms. July is usually the driest month, and November the wettest.

  2. Days 1-4: Laikipia

Touching down in Nairobi, you’ll be whisked through the airport by a representative to your driver, who will take you to Nairobi Wilson Airport to board your light aircraft flight to Nanyuki, the gateway to Laikipia. You’ll soon be on your way to Solio Lodge, your wilderness home for the next three nights. This lodge exudes elegance and exclusivity and is set within a private conservancy, nestled between the slopes of Mount Kenya and the rolling peaks of the Aberdare Mountains. Wake up to the dawn chorus of birds before cantering into the wild on horseback. Venture out on a game drive and feel the thrill of being in a leopard’s presence, as she gazes out at you from the branch of an acacia tree. Or try your hand at trout fishing in the enchanting Aberdares National Park, before heading back to Solio to indulge on a sumptuous spread of fine cuisine, under a sky brimming with star constellations.

Rise from your king size bed just as dawn is breaking and enjoy a delectable breakfast, cooked up for you on a stove out on the savannah, whilst you gaze out across the Sand River.
