The Lewa Conservancy has long held the reputation for being a model of collaborative conservation. This UNESCO World Heritage Site covers 65,000 hectares of pristine African wilderness and a variety of different habitats, from highland forests, wide open grasslands and acacia woodland whilst supporting over 440 species of birds and more than 70 other animal species, including the black and white rhino. Working with the local community, Lewa also works hard to improve the livelihoods of hundreds of families in the area.
Situated on this incredible conservancy, Kifaru House offers a warm and welcoming stay in a luxury bush getaway in the heart of the action. Each of the five cottages have well-appointed bathrooms, generous four-poster beds and large en-suite bathrooms along with plenty of space and beautiful views out in onto the bush. The first cottage has two bedrooms, making it perfect for families. Main areas of camp are warmed by open log fires making them the perfect place to relax on the cooler evenings. The lounge comes with a well-stocked bar, and the dining room opens out onto a large terrace where guests can enjoy breakfast whilst watching animals congregate around the watering hole.
Guides at Kifaru come from the local communities and have a vast and intimate knowledge of the land and animals that live there, making activities here both informative and exciting. This area of Kenya is always a great place for guests who want to be more active and get out and about to explore. Aside from game drives, other activities on offer are guided walks and horse or camel riding along with cultural village visits, conservancy visits and picturesque bush breakfasts or beautiful sundowners after a thrilling day on safari.
