The Ring of Connemara

Making a circuit of the Ring of Connemara, deep in Ireland’s Gaeltacht region, is a wonderful way of experiencing the wild beauty of Ireland and its deep traditions. Small country roads lead you through stunning lakes and mountains, almost all of which have a place in the ancient Celtic mythology of Ireland.
You’ll have a chance also to visit Westport, home of the notorious Irish Pirate Queen Grace O’Malley, explore the sacred mountain of Croagh Patrick with its magnificent views, and in whose shadow is a poignant John Behan sculpture depicting a ‘coffin ship’ in tribute to the victims of the Irish Famine. And, of course, there’s always time to drop in to a traditional pub and savour the delights of a well-poured pint of Guinness.
