Secluded amongst sweeping rice paddies and forest-clad hills, Ijen Resort offers comfortable accommodation near the Ijen Crater coupled with a serene atmosphere, sublime views and well appointed views.
Highlights
-
Located in East Java, enjoy being off the grid amongst the rainforest and terraced rice fields
-
Visit nearby remote villages to experience authentic Indonesian hospitality
-
A popular hiking area in East Java, take a trip to the Ijen Crater to enjoy sunrise and marvel at the famous blue fire
-
Enjoy a mix of Indonesian and Western food at the hotel’s restaurant and bar
The final three kilometres of dirt track may be a little taxing, but the reward for arriving at Ijen Resort is one of Java’s most panoramic views over rush rice fields towards Mount Ijen. The accommodation, although quite rustic, is comfortable and functional, making this a great option for an overnight stay before climbing Mount Ijen.
The resort offers serene gardens and a pool area for relaxing, fantastic views and 45 well-appointed rooms that balance modern and traditional styling. Cool temperatures mean rooms are equipped with fans, though air-conditioning is available in Villa Deluxe rooms, which also have outdoor showers. If you like a room-with-a-view, then we recommend a Junior Suite, where you can sit out on your own private terrace overlooking the dramatic landscape.
Ijen Resort has one restaurant and bar, serving a mix of Indonesian and Western food. Overlooking the stepped rice terraces that drop away into the valley below, the swimming pool is a stand-out feature of the property, the perfect spot to spend free time soaking up the sun or enjoying the impressive views.
I would definitely recommend upgrading to the Junior Suite. These rooms offer the best views over the mountains and valleys, including a private sit-out from which to enjoy them.
