Start on Île de la Cité and look up in wonder at the intricate facade of Notre Dame Cathedral, before moving on to the magnificent Gothic chapel, Sainte-Chapelle, located within Palais de la Cité, the former residence of kings. Admire the Conciergerie, medieval palace turned prison, and learn about its most famous inmate, Marie Antoinette.

Stroll along the left bank, home to the Sorbonne and its trendy students. Discover the hidden winding streets of the Latin quarter before crossing the river to the affluent district Le Marais. 17th century mansions line the streets, and the elegant Place des Vosges sits pride of place in this quarter.

Continue along the Rue de Rivoli towards the Tuileries Garden and the Louvre with its iconic pyramid. In this area find Place Vendôme and the impressive Opera Garnier. Make your way down to Place de la Concorde, where the infamous guillotine once stood, then on to Paris' most famous street, the Champs-Élysées, towards the Arc de Triomphe. Finally, wander down to the Eiffel Tower, Les Invalides, and the dome under which Napoleon's tomb lies.
