The Chateau features a heated pool, orangery and a tennis court along with 29 light and bright spacious bedrooms, which are all decorated in neutral tones with pastel shades, providing a cosy and romantic atmosphere. Some feature wood panelling and marble fireplaces whereas others are adorned with traditional, decorative wallpaper. The history of the chateau dates back to the 18th Century, where it was originally a hemp farm and then a breeding farm for foals. The chateau was then occupied by the Germans during World War II, and then the Americans after the D-Day landings. After a detailed renovation in 1988, the chateau was restored to be the romantic hotel which stands today.
As well as being close by to Omaha beach there are also a range of other activities in the area including Jeeps, Quads, Buggies, horse riding, hiking, sailing and golf. The spacious grounds contain a heated pool, orangery, tennis court, vegetable garden and even a Beekeeper with bee hives where the chateau cultivate their own honey which is served at breakfast and even in some of their cocktails! There is also a beautiful rose garden displaying an array of exotic trees – perfect for a tranquil walk.
The restaurant features traditional recipes from both the land and sea, served with a creative touch. Many of the fresh ingredients, including herbs, fruits and vegetables are grown in the hotel’s own vegetable garden. We recommend that you sample the cheese trolley which features 20 different types of cheese! There is also an extensive wine cellar and the cosy hotel bar, le Zanzibar, serves up wines and cocktails as well as displaying souvenirs from the owner’s travels.
